..Texas Veteran's Playwriting Competition

The Texas Veteran's Playwriting Competition is open to all Texas veterans and all Texans who are currently on active duty to include those stationed in Texas or stationed in another part of the country or abroad, in any branch of the American armed forces, including the Reserves.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:

Original unproduced scripts, one act or full length of any style, form or subject matter. While submitted scripts may deal with military or post-military life and viewpoints, participants are encouraged to submit scripts on any subject of their choosing with no restrictions or requirements of any kind.

There is no entry fee to submit your script. If you would your script returned to you, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your submission.

Playhouse Smithville, a community theatre in Smithville, Texas, hosts the first Texas Playwriting Competition 2020 sponsored by Playhouse Smithville, the Richard D. Latham Cultural District of Smithville, TX, the City of Smithville and the Texas Commission on the Arts. Deadline to submit a script is midnight, January 31, 2020. The winner will be notified no later than April 30, 2020 via e-mail and/or telephone.

The winner will receive a $500.00 cash prize and their script will receive a staged reading directed by Playhouse Smithville Artistic Director john daniels, jr. (sic).

The staged reading will be performed at Playhouse Smithville, 110 Main Street in Smithville, Texas and will be open to the public.
