A MESSAGE FROM PLAYHOUSE SMITHVILLE:
Friends,
“Ok, Ok… I’m a Doctor!” will be our last show in the Playhouse. Thirteen complete seasons, 130 productions, 880 live performances on Main Street Smithville. 2080 rehearsals with over 200 artists ranging in ages from 3 years to over 80 years.
We have performed fro Shakespeare and Moliere to The Rocky Horror Show and Annie. There have been children’s shows with young actors and children’s shows with actors of all ages. There have been cabaret shows (aka Silhouette Shows) and Melodramas with popcorn. Our Actors have performed Pullitzer Prize winning plays and premiered new works. Five local playwrights have presented new works.
All of these shows have been performed by the hardest working, most talented and most dedicated artists for the most wonderful audiences imaginable. Our motto is, “Local performers playing to local audiences… Come Play with Us.”
In November of 2009 April, Matt and john walked into Charlie’s Bar-b-Que at 110 Main Street with an idea. You helped make it come to life. “We thank you all.”
We express a special thank you to the owner of the building whose support made all this possible for us and Smithville.
A theatre is not a building. A theatre is a group of artists, people with a common love for what they do and for each other. They share an idea, a journey, a goal, a sense of unity within their diversity… a joy.
We will continue to produce shows, entertain and have fun.
So, for now, please come see “Ok, Ok… I’m a Doctor!” (Shameless plug) and celebrate with us. After all Theatre is a celebration.
With love… April & john*
